1.1 Introduction

The Lao People's Democratic Republic (PDR) is a small landlocked country with many mountain ranges. It is considered one of the least developed and the poorest countries in the world. Most Lao people earn their living in the e agricultural sector. Basic infrastructures and facilities are limited due to limited resources since the economy of Lao relies mainly on foreign assistance, from foreign governments and the international organizations.

In the past decades, the people of Lao have suffered due to the Indochina war and civil wars. Although they no longer have war, many people, who became disabled due to war injuries, are experiencing difficult due to limited facilities.
